Why OKLCH for design systems
OKLCH expresses color as lightness, chroma, and hue in a space that tracks human perception more evenly than HSL or raw hex. Equal lightness steps produce ramps that look balanced across hues — the foundation of modern CSS color workflows and W3C Design Tokens 2025.10.
Coloristic authors in OKLCH and exports sRGB hex for interchange, so tokens stay perceptual at the source and compatible at the boundary.
